ATTN: The Summer Zh League

That's so kind of you @KyleLegion :).

Each team will consist of 4 players, with the average rating being no more than 2500. The average rating is calculated as follows:

(((highest rating of player 1 + current rating of player 1 as of July 30) / 2) ... + ((highest rating of player 4 + current rating of player 4 as of July 30) / 2)) / 4

So each player's rating will = average of highest rating + current rating as of July 30; then all of these ratings for the 4 players will be averaged out for the overall average rating of the team.
I'm in!

But the formula needs to be tweaked. It'd be way too easy for players to tank their live rating on the given day.
Well wouldn't that fall under sandbagging, which would be quite obvious? If they make a not-too-obvious sandbag of let's say 100 points it won't help much because of the average rating thing. This was always a problem for the knockout stage of the CWC as the same formula was used, but it didn't end up being a problem anyway :).

Hmm IDK, I'm open to suggestions. Anyone wanna chime in? We need more discussion because the league isn't too far away!
How about all-time performance rating instead? I think this can be calculated given the lifetime stats and avg. opponent on each player's profile. Live rating is just too volatile imo.
Or you could use a previous date, such as July 20th, instead.
@Assios I thought about that but I felt that having a specific cutoff point would be unfair. Like what if someone didn't play that day while some other player was shedding points? At least with a day known in advance players could stop playing on that day.

@crosky Hmm how would this work?

IDK maybe I'll go off a previous cutoff like I was thinking. Thanks for the affirmation, Assios.
depending on the time control, I'll be interested. I also think the average ratings should be slightly lower to discourage stacked super teams.
Could some YouTuber encourage their subs to join this? So that teams will be easy to make and also I hope <2000 players will have some competition.
Honestly the CWC avg was 2200, if this type of tournament is only for pros, I doubt number of players will increase in next tournaments, because lower rated players would not join.
If a if lot of people join and depending on the rating formula used, I was thinking something along the lines of the average rating being closer to 2200. I think this would be good because I think with more diverse teams from a rating standpoint, I think it would encourage higher rated players working with lower rated players. I also think this would allow for more competitive teams in general, as well.
