Actually I do have a suggestion to multiply variants (I can't be the first one to make it) and keep things rather tidy: we'd maybe need a poll on the subject but 960 could probably be offered for all variants, horde included I guess...
If people are interested in these then the ratings could be shown on a table with two columns and as many lines as there are variants: the first one for regular and the second for the 960 version of that particular variant or time control. That also means we'd get ratings in 960 according to time controls, unlike the way it is now.
How about it?

completely agree with #2 towns-paycheck ... Having suicide960 as a variant would be really exciting!! and I assume it can be easily implemented...
#12: just 960 for all variants then. I guess a win in 960 king of the hill is still a win in king of the hill? A simple box to tick when someone starts a seek, and a symbol to make it clear to others. Ratings go to whichever variant was being played, while keeping it separate for standard.
In the list I root for cannibal chess. Think of the tactics in long sequences of moves!
I wonder... It is interecting ... In general, the ideas are good to create a new type of chess, but ... with the division of the chessboard into pieces, in my opinion, is not practical in a real games, because
First, uncomfortable (can not see anything; which calculations of varians and options can you made???? it will not chess, but in the literal sense of the strategy... and the interest will disappear that attract us to chess),
And the second, for exzample, white win depends on your players (and if they dont capability to good play)?
Ideas need to some complete, and then it will be excellent
