Ik im just sayin it might be more accurate if they use "CPM" or Characters per second instead because words are of varying lengths

That's how it works in typing contests. I had a typing contest when I was a pupil.

So this is my speed, i counted time i started from 40sec and ended on 1 min 20 sec. which means in 40sec i can type 177 words/40sec
