Lichess hosting

Where are the Lichess servers hosted ?
Is it on a certain cloud provider ?
Or there are physical dedicated servers somewhere ?
lichess is hosted on physical dedicated servers in france.
So people playing from countries like India or Australia will always have more lag than those in Europe?
Most likely, yes.

And there seems to be no way around that with current technology. Unless you have multiple data centers *and* only allow to play local people.

Lag compensation seems to be the best way to get a fair game as of now.

Unless you can rewrite lichess code to run on more than 1 server somehow make it possible for lichess to afford and then convince lichess of it
Lag compensation should be the fix for everybody - otherwise the games should be hosted halfway

I think Lichess is already running on many servers, but all the servers are in France.

But maybe hosting the code on a cloud environment with multiple regions and availability zones ... very complicated though.

I wonder what the others (chess dot com) are doing to resolve the issue.
