why isn't there a King of the Hill World championship?

does somebody know?
Maybe one of the representatives of Lichess can explain
The Variant-WCs are organised by players/communitys on lichess not lichess itself. So when there is not King of the Hill WC noone did organise it. Koth doesn't have a too active community (correct me if i'm wrong) so that is probably why noone has done it.
very sad. It is a variant like the others as well. But yes, that could be the reason
The likely reason is that it's too similar to normal chess.
yeah. Maybe all normal chess player would play King of the HIll and likely no variant players could win.

I think, it is the same reason why there is no chess960 or fisher random wc
No, similarity to chess is not the reason at all. The reason is explained by Iubar.

I have organised variant WCs, including the very first one on lichess. In every case it's done by players and the variant communities. If you like KOTH and want a WC you can organise one. It's easier now as you can look at the other variants and adjust their rules/format as appropriate. Just don't wait for lichess to do it, because it's never been done by the site itself.
@tipau is it much work to do? Do you have to spend much time to organize?
I mean from your experience.
yeah, I knew about this championship. I just forgot :(

(I accually meant on lichess, but yeah, you are absolutly right)
