how does lichess support itself?

I've been playing on this site for a little while and can't help being curious. There's no ads, and I have seen any prompts to donate anywhere. This is by far one of the best chess websites with replay, computer analysis, and can even detect cheaters. Who pays for all this?
Currently Thibault pays out of his own pocket, with some server costs donating towards a server, as I understand it. Although I believe that there are plans in the pipeline to allow donations.
It is/will be the wikipedia of chess
That's probably the best way to think of it. :)
at the bottom of the screen there is a button you can click that says.
"Donate"
I have just donated five bucks... with big pleasure. This site is so great...
how do I donate in €? I asked but got no reply
Hi Wofford,

If you have a Paypal account or a bank account, you can specify the amount of US $ you want to donate. So, determine how much you want to donate in euros, then work out the exchange rate to dollars. Eg, 5 euros is roughly 10 dollars at the moment. Donate 10 dollars, and then the bank will do the rest for you.
That's not what I meant. When I click on donate it asks for the amount of $ but I want to donate in euro to save the exchange rate (I assume the owner lives in France anyways so why not donate €?).
